Ontario CA – Thompson Boxing returned with the latest edition of “Path To Glory” and another night of action packed fights. In the main event Mohamed Rodriguez pulled the upset when he stopped Manuel Mendez who was looking to stay busy and fight for the third time this year. Mohamed Rodriguez is not an easy out and who is known for his wars, scored the upset when beat the house fighter who goes by the name “La Tormenta” which translates to The Storm. Carlos Mohamed Rodriguez Gamez who has beaten a few tough Texas fighters like Alex Del Bosque and Ramsey Luna bounced back following the war with Fidel Maldonado Jr in April to score a huge KO win over Mendez. When Thompson puts on a show no one can never question the match making because they are always tough. This is not the first time Thompson fighter has been beaten and it probably will not be the last. Daniel Roman comes to mind who will be fighting for the WBA world title September 3rd. It is up to the fighter to bounce back and learn from it. This is what makes Thompson great and hoping Manuel Mendez the best.
In the Co-main event Jessie Roman scored the TKO win over Erick Martinez who won his 2nd fight following his 3rd defeat to top contender Eddie Ramirez last year. Roman looked relaxed and got back to basics en route to the stoppage. Roman improves to 22-3 11KOs and the veteran Erick Martinez drops to 13-8-1. Top prospect Michael Dutchover went the distance for the first time in his career and got the UD win over Miguel Carrizoza to remain undefeated. Dutchover who faced some adversity for the first time in his young career will learn from this and get better. Despite being cut and facing an experienced fighter who did not quit, Dutchover showed that maturity that made us believe in the young Texan. Congrats to Coach Danny Zamora and Team Dutchover on a good win early on against a formidable opponent.
In other action Saul Sanchez the young brother of Golden Boy fighter Emilio Sanchez got the KO over Christian Bartolini to improve to 3-0 2KOs. Saul who is trained by coach Joel Diaz looked good and promoters should keep an eye on the young kid. Rafael Rivera improved to 25-0-2 when he scored his 16th KO over veteran Ruben Tamayo. In the opening bout heavyweight Sergey Kuzmin scored the “heavyweight” like knockout over Malcolm Tann. The 30 year old Kuzmin improved to 11-0 8KOs and Tann drops to 24-4, this was Tann 2nd fight following a 10 year layoff.
