Los Angeles – Christian “Chimpa” Gonzalez got the UD win over 60 fight veteran Gamaliel “El Platano” Diaz in a fight that was a lot harder then anticipated. Diaz from Michoacan, Mexico used every trick in his arsenal to make it a rough fight for the Golden Boy fighter and he succeeded. Diaz was coming in leading with his head and used his experience to make it a sloppy fight. The constant holding led to a point deduction and warning from referee Jack Reis in the final round to disqualify him but not before he landed a clean head butt on Gonzalez that lead to a cut over his right eye. The young knockout artist Chimpa Gonzalez went the distance for only the 3rd time in his career and got his 2nd win following his lone defeat at the hands of Romero Duno. The scorecards read 79-72, 79-72 and 76-75 for Chimpa Gonzalez who improves to 18-1 15KOs.

It was a good thing Gonzalez vs Diaz went the distance as all the other bouts ended in early knockouts. It was quality win against an experienced fighter who has been in the ring with everybody and is known as a dirty fighter. With the exception of the cut it was a good win for Gonzalez who can go back and work on some things to get better. This is the type of fight a young fighter can learn from and build on because Diaz is no easy fight.

In the co main event Edgar Valerio aka “Kid Neza” got the 2nd round KO over Martin Cardona to remain undefeated. Valerio blasted Cardona who was badly hurt in the 1st and dropped several times en route to the early 2nd round stoppage. With the KO win Valerio improves to 12-0 7Kos and Cardona drops to 22-9 14KOs. I
