Canelo International Media Conference Call (Canelo Vs Chavez Jr)

News 0 49

Dallas, TX- Earlier today, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez held a brief international media conference call ahead of the highly anticipated bout against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. A majority of it was the usual pre fight clichés or the typical Oscar De La Hoya hyperboles. Canelo did provide a few steaming quotes thrown at Chavez Jr.  A question on everyone’s mind is when did this rivalry with Chavez Jr begin. “Almost 10 years ago” replied Canelo. “In Guadalajara. At that moment they had all the power to make the fight but refused to move forward with it. He’s a person that talks way too much and is not a man of his word. Childish attitude.”

When asked why he is considered the favorite by experts and fans Canelo replied “because of my abilities, my talents and I’m simply better than him.” Making the rounds on social media recently was a picture of Chavez Jr in which he looked lean and ripped. Canelo was asked for his thoughts “he doesn’t impress me. I’ve fought in shape athletes all my life. I’m happy he’s training seriously so there will be no excuses.”

A reporter brought up the fact that Chavez Jr was perplexed on the anti-doping routine. Hinting that Canelo was hiding something. A noticeably upset Canelo stated “Son puras pendejadas lo que dice y a lo que va. V.A.D.A es una empresa prestigiosa. Ellos saben hacer su trabajo.” He went on to remind everyone that “Chavez Jr has failed anti-doping tests 2 or 3 times and what he is saying is very stupid because I have never failed a test.”

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Golden Boy did not take the bait on any Gennady Golovkin questions. They deflected them and maintained their focus is on May 6th against Julio Cesar Chavez. They did say Canelo does not have to dehydrate as much because of the 164.5 catchweight. Moving forward their plan is to stay in or around that weight.

Canelo vs Chavez Jr is a 12 round fight presented by Golden Boy promotions and sponsored by Tecate, BORN BOLD, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Adriana’s Insurance and Internet. The event will take place Saturday May 6 th at T-Mobile Arena and will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per- View® beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.
